- Base Preparation: The top slab or terrace slab which needs to be waterproofed has to be leveled with cracks filled and loose particles removed to receive the succeeding layers.
- Base Layer: This is a mortar layer mixed with waterproofing chemicals and laid to a nominal slope with weep holes provided as required. - Coba Layer: The essential role of this layer is to provide slope to the flat slab to assist surface run off. Ideally laid at a slope of 1:100 (varies depending upon annual rainfall). The constituents of this layer can have brick bats or AAC bats as fillers depending on availability of material raised floor to accommodate service lines. Providing a double or triple layered waterproofing is necessary as it is not being done in a sunk slab and care should be taken that all supply and drain lines are provided such that they can be serviced without involving breakages if situation arises.
- Top Layer: The top layer should be abrasion free. This is essential for the life of the layer.
