When I visit my close friends and relatives’ place, the most common problem I notice in rainy season is people face water stains, damp walls, puffed up paint. Most of the time I have seen all of us overlook it thinking that is temporary, many ignore it with the thought that this is a regular occurrence during the monsoon. But in reality these are all signs of leakages seeping in from the outside.
Water leaks are seen slowly on the walls, ceiling and then we see them creeping onto our furniture. In today’s time as we have built in furniture and on the ceilings too we do POP work, by the time it is visible it would have damaged our built in wardrobe and we even give rise to issues of termite.
Water doesn’t follow any fixed path, it can move anywhere. There is no definite logic applicable to it.
Water leakage can occur just about anywhere in your house. Be it the ceiling, your bedroom walls, storage room, tiled surfaces etc. It is essential to identify these stains and track them down.
In the image above we can see the overhead tank. Condition of the tank clearly indicates that it can cause leakage to a floors below.
Building’s have terrace gardens at various floor levels. If they are not waterproofed properly and there is stagnant water collected, it could also be a cause of leakage to the floor below.
Water Leakage on loose tiles or gaps causes leakage. With the help of moisture meter we can identify the extent of dampness in the room.
Once water leakages are tracked it is not difficult to resolve. There are different methods to resolve either by joint filling, PU injections and injection grouting. These all are invasive treatments.
If you still find it difficult you can always seek the help of waterproofing services in Mumbai or waterproofing services in Thane, depending on your place of stay/work.
