Tank Waterproofing

Water Tanks be it underground or overhead, are an essential facility in building. The design and construction of water tanks ensure effective use and prevents leakages. As the building ages there is a wear and tear in the structure and water tanks are no exception.
The water tanks hold large quantity of water which is potable and hence it is essential that no external water arising due to rain or sub-soil water should not enter the tanks . Also, the water in the tanks should not leak in the outside surface .
The absorption of water into the tanks can be prevented by sealing the cracks and joints from outside whereas the inaccessible portion can be sealed by adequate PU injection grouting. . The PU Injection Resin Grout being non-toxic is certified to be safe for potable water. These works are advisable to be carried out by expert waterproofing contractor.
The internal surfaces of the tank are susceptible to the wear and tear due to the constant filling and usage of water on a daily basis. These surfaces viz tank base ,peripheral wata and walls should be cleaned of all loose materials, cracks opened and thorough cleaned and filled with adequate waterproof sealants.
Post crack filling the cementitious coatings should be applied in 2 coats and the tank filled with water for a minimum period of 48 hours to check the effectiveness of the treatment.
The right choice of waterproofing materials and skilled application are important aspects of water tank waterproofing systems.
